Sweet 22: Su Yiming Grabs Slopestyle Gold on His Birthday at Milano Cortina
Talk about the ultimate birthday present. China’s snowboarding superstar Su Yiming celebrated his 22nd birthday in the best way imaginable—by capturing the Olympic slopestyle gold medal at the Livigno Snow Park. After taking home a bitter-sweet silver in Beijing four years ago, Su left no doubt this time around, dropping a spectacular first run score of 82.41.
The competition was a razor-thin battle against Japan’s Taiga Hasegawa, who took silver with an 82.13. "To represent Team China and get this gold after four years, that means everything to me," an emotional Su stated after the flower ceremony.
