The GOAT of Aspen: Mark McMorris Stands Alone with 25th X Games Medal
While his Olympic run in Italy ended in a frustrating 8th place finish following a concussion recovery, Mark McMorris reminded everyone why he is a living legend just weeks prior at X Games Aspen. Staring down heavy snow and low visibility, the 32-year-old Canadian did what he does best: dropped a historic, clutch third run to steal the slopestyle gold out from under Team USA’s Red Gerard.
With that victory, McMorris officially secured his 25th career X Games medal (and 14th gold), surpassing all previous winter athletes to become the most decorated winter competitor in X Games history.
