Pressure is a Privilege: Jake Canter Blasts onto the Olympic Podium
Heading into the final run of the men’s Olympic slopestyle event, Team USA was looking down the barrel of a podium shutout. But Silverthorne, Colorado native Jake Canter had other plans. Sitting in eighth place, the 22-year-old delivered a flawless, high-stakes final run that featured a heavy double underflip off the cannon rail and a massive, perfectly stomped backside 1980.
The run earned him a 79.36, catapulting him into the bronze medal position and restoring the U.S. to the men’s slopestyle podium. "I really hope I made 13-year-old me proud," Canter joked afterwards. "Pressure’s a privilege!"
